Trauma can be viewed as a deeply disturbing or distressing experience that has a lasting effect on the way we view ourselves, others, and/or the world itself.

For some, traumatic events may include a car accident, a natural disaster, or sexual assault. For others, it may have been child abuse or neglect.

Here are few other examples of traumatic experiences:

    ·      Bullying or peer humiliation

    ·      Experiencing racism, discrimination and/or micro-aggressions

    ·      Childhood trauma

    ·      Sudden loss of a loved one

If you have been affected by trauma, you might blame yourself or have difficulty trusting others. You might feel anxious or become panicked without warning.

In these circumstances, the support, guidance, and assistance of a therapist is fundamental to healing from trauma.

Most commonly, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for effectively treating trauma.

If you or someone you know are struggling with the effects of trauma, I am confident that I can help and invite you to contact me today for a free consultation.
